I have so many wonderful college memories with my friend, Shauna. We lived in the same dorm freshman year, and the first Sunday I was in Austin, I went out to wait for the shuttle bus to a local church. Shauna walked up, introduced herself and asked if I wanted to sit with her. Then we lived together for three years, and she never stopped making me laugh. When I first started learning photography, her oldest, Lily, was a baby, so I did lots of practice sessions with them. I got to photograph Eli’s and Dixie’s newborn sessions, and I was thrilled when I got to see the whole family for a session last month. I hadn’t seen Dixie since she was born, and she has her mom’s looks and personality – I love her! Shauna called me before the session and said, “Dixie’s highly allergic to fire ants and we forgot her epi pen, but don’t worry, she’s wearing cowboy boots that are two sizes too big.” I had to laugh because…#thirdkid. So despite mild anxiety that I would sit this girl in an ant pile, we got gorgeous photos of this beautiful family – and Dixie lived to tell about it. I only wish Shauna and I still lived close enough to hang out all the time.
