This sweet family live in different states – so it’s a big deal when they’re all together. And even with Kristen and Sergio’s wedding just three days later, they all showed up excited for a laid-back family session in non-wedding clothes. As I photographed them, I was reminded of the beauty of family – brothers, sisters, parents, nieces and nephews. If you’re lucky, when you’re young, you feel like family is an unchanging constant. Then you get older. Siblings get married. Babies are born. The family dynamic that once was shifts and rearranges like a cell dividing – still part of the same whole, but different – new. Sometimes we can forget how marvelous that is – and it’s one of the reason’s I love photography – the prompting to celebrate family relationships in all their perfectly imperfect glory.
