Rounding up a few favorites from the past couple months of summer!
Wild Mountain Thyme – Critics panned this film, but I adored it. It’s a simple story with plenty of Irish humor, beautiful landscapes and actors, and one of the tenderest father/son moments I’ve seen on screen.
Defunkify – I have teen sons who play sports. Two scoops of defunkify, and their jerseys smell of absolutely nothing. Need I say more?
Orzo Salad – Pistachios are having a moment, and this salad perfectly platforms them. I have made this on repeat this summer.
Cloud Cuckoo Land – I almost abandoned this one, but at my brother’s insistence I pushed through. Doerr weaves together five different plots from four different time periods masterfully. This is a book about the power of story, and I’m so glad I finished it. “Sometimes the things we think are lost are only hidden, waiting to be rediscovered.”
Peach Cobbler – I picked bushels of peaches from our tree this year, so the only thing to do was to start making cobbler. This recipe is my favorite, but I double the topping! Also, I don’t peel my peaches, and it doesn’t make a bit of difference.
